Gary McKillips is a free-lance writer and public relations executive specializing in higher education public relations and marketing. McKillips previously served as director of communications and marketing for Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business and assistant vice president of university relations for the University of Tennessee System.
His corporate PR experience includes serving as vice president of corporate and sports public relations for Turner Broadcasting System (TBS), and vice president of public affairs for Contel Corporation’s telephone operations group (now part of Verizon Communications).
McKillips is a member of the College of Fellows of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), former president of the Georgia Chapter of PRSA. He is the founder and former chair of the Counselors to Higher Education PR advisory group.
In addition to his PR work, McKillips is a contributing writer for the Atlanta Business Chronicle and American City Business Journals. He also serves as a correspondent for Associated Press Radio Sports and MLB on Sirius/XM satellite radio.
He is a graduate of John Carroll University in Cleveland and a former U.S. Army captain and Vietnam veteran.
