
Cherise Y. Peters is a senior level education administrator with 36 years of experience in Higher Education in the areas of Student Affairs, Enrollment Services, Academic Affairs, Residential Life, Student Information Systems Management, Student Financial Aid, Finance and Administration, Institutional Operations, Human Resources, Student Judicial and Governmental Affairs, and Auxiliary operations. Cherise currently serves as CEO and Principle Consultant for Peters Principle, LLC. Prior positions include the Vice President for Enrollment Management at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama; Vice President for Enrollment Management at Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama; Associate Provost and Vice President for Enrollment Management at Alabama State University; Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services and University Registrar at Georgia State University; Director of Finance and Administration for the Art Institute of Washington; Executive Director of the Advanced Career Training Institutes in Atlanta and Riverdale; and the Dean of Students and Interim Dean for Finance and Administration for DeVry University in Atlanta, Georgia. In each of these roles she has had a direct and positive impact on the institutions enrollment, retention, and graduation of its students.
Cherise is a well-recognized higher education and enrollment services expert who has consulted and presented nationally on the various approaches and benefits for improving enrollment services and customer services in post-secondary institutions. She has been awarded the Chancellor’s Bronze Award for Outstanding Customer Leadership Award, and recognized by the Governor’s office of Customer Service for Outstanding Customer Service Improvement Initiatives. She is also the recipient of the Profiles of Prominence in Excellence Award given by the National Association of Women of Achievement – in recognition for her years of working in education and the development of women in higher education. She serves on several state and national boards and leadership positions.
Cherise began her journey with IUGB over ten years ago when she was a part of a team of administrators at Georgia State University charged with advising and guiding the university leadership in its development of student services including curriculum management, registration, student records, and compliance. Over the years, she has continued to be engaged in IUGB and the IUGB Foundation.
Cherise is currently pursuing her PhD in Research, Measurements, and Statistics at Georgia State University. She has a Masters in Human Resources Management, from Keller Graduate School, a Certificate in Management Leadership Education from Harvard University, and a Bachelor in Business Administration from Fort Lauderdale University. Cherise is married to her husband, Bernard, for 35 years and is the mother of two, Howard, age 26 and Kayla, age 31.
